2017 Q2 Metalworking Solutions Newsletter

Doug Vines — Another Metalworking Solutions First

It seems like yesterday when Doug came to work for us in October, 2011. We were still on Chestnut Street. We were thrilled to welcome someone with his level of experience to our team.

Doug was born in the Motor City, Detroit, Michigan. Not long afterwards his parents moved to Venis Beach, California where he grew up and began his career as a metal fabricator. Doug has fabricated parts for Bradley Tanks including 800 round magazines for 7.62 caliber ammunition to frames for the first computers.

Doug has contributed to building the culture here at Metalworking Solutions. He’s a man of responsibility, moving to Henegar, TN in 2002 to help take care of his mom. We are glad that he found his way to Chattanooga in subsequent years. He has two older sons still living in California, and a 10-year-old daughter that he and his wife, Lisa, adopted a few years ago.

While many men about to retire would be thinking of hanging it up and going fishing, Doug is just getting started. He and Lisa are in the process of adopting a five-year-old little girl, the biological sister of their 10-year-old. Doug and Lisa are focused on caring for and pouring into the lives of these fortunate girls.

Doug will be retiring from Metalworking Solutions in a few weeks. He is the first person ever to retire from the company. We are going to miss his work ethic and the level of excellence he brought to the bending department; however, we couldn’t be happier for these two little girls that are gaining a full-time father that will be able to dedicate his entire day to their well-being. We know that Doug is planning on doing a little gardening in addition to looking after the girls, and we hope that he will visit from time to time, attend our annual open house, take in a Lookouts game, and tailgate with us at one of the Mocs football games.

Doug, we hope you know how much we appreciate you. We wish you, Lisa, the girls, and the rest of your family the very best. Thank you for your service and friendship.
