Summary

Metalworking Solutions is currently seeking a 2nd Shift Supervisor. The ideal candidate will direct and coordinates activities of the 2nd shift team and other resources to meet production schedules.  In this capacity, you will enforce and communicate company policies and goals with particular attention paid to quality, safety and Metalworking Solutions’ Core Values.  Finally, the person holding this position must ensure work is being performed in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards.

Essential
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the quality of production within assigned departments and coordinate with quality auditors as needed to ensure quality levels are maintained. 
  • Responsible for training and supervision of direct and indirect team members assigned to 2nd shift. 
  • Responsible for the safety of employees within assigned areas and work to minimize accidents and improve conditions. 
  • Organize; arrange work and direct activities of direct reports to ensure production schedules are met in an efficient manner.
  • Maintain acceptable departmental production levels. 
  • Monitor, prepare and submit reports timely. 
  • Responsible for maintaining order and discipline and administering company policy within the assigned shift. 
  • Maintain “Open House Ready” cleanliness within the assigned area and initiate action to improve cleanliness whenever possible. 
  • To undertake any other duties as may be required and participate as and when necessary in Companywide initiatives & projects.
  • Undertake additional training to develop skills as the company requires.
  • Perform work in accordance with organizational policies and practices

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages the 2nd shift team.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Metalworking Solutions’ policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications
/ Requirements:

  • Excellent communication
    skills, both written and verbal.

  • Practical working

Education
and/or Experience:

  • Associate degree and/or two years related experience, and/or training equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Lasers, Turrets, and Press Brakes preferable.

Language
Skills:

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and use micrometers, calipers, height gauges and other gauges as situations dictate. Ability to complete quality documents.

Mathematical
Skills:

Ability to read blueprints, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and convert from or to metric dimensions.

Reasoning
Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems
and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical
Demands:

The physical demands are
representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform
the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to

Work
Environment:

Plant environment. While in the plant, ear and eye protection are required. You occasionally may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, some exposure to non-hazardous fumes or airborne particles. Joel Holt Joins Metalworking Solutions as Vice President Operations

  Chattanooga, TN March 4, 2019:  Metalworking Solutions today announced that Joel Holt had joined the company as Vice President of Operations. As Vice President of Operations, Holt will have full responsibility for manufacturing and leading the company in its LEAN initiatives. Holt comes to Metalworking Solutions from Kenco Management Services where he served from 2008 as Corporate Director of Engineering and prior to that Corporate Manager of Logistics Engineering. From 2005 to 2018 he served in various roles at Array including Director of Process Improvement and Plant Manager. Holt also enjoyed a 23-year career at United Technologies where he led various LEAN and Six Sigma initiatives during his tenure. “We are pleased to welcome Joel to the Metalworking Solutions family,” stated Nick Burrows, President. “We have known and followed Joel in his career for many years. We value his work ethic, character, and experience. Metalworking Solutions Names Nick Burrows President

 

Chattanooga, TN February 8, 2018:  Metalworking Solutions today announced Nick Burrows has been named President, effective immediately. As President, Burrows will have full responsibility for the company and leading the organization into the future.

Burrows, 39, has been with the company since its inception. He implemented the initial systems, processes and organizational policies in support of the company’s vision and has led Metalworking Solutions team in evolving these practices and systems as the business has grown.

“Nothing at Metalworking Solutions will change with this announcement”, said Bill Hewgley, Chairman, Metalworking Solutions. “As Executive Vice President and General Manager, Nick has been performing this role, leading our team to over 158% revenue growth over the past five years. Burrows received his Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Computer Information Systems and his Master of Business Administration from the University of North Alabama. Nick and his wife, Katie, Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach for UTC, have two girls and reside in the Lookout Valley area.

CNC Turret Punch Operator

Position Summary

Metalworking Solutions is currently seeking a CNC turret punch operator to oversee the cutting/punching of sheet metal parts. Ideal candidates will have two or more years’ experience with Amada or similar CNC turret punch machines. The ability to identify different gauges and alloys of sheet metal is critical to this individual’s success.

  • Operate the CNC Turret Punch and other machinery used in the production process, or assist other machine operators.
  • Select proper die clearances based on material requirements.
  • Set up tooling, load programs, and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
  • Determine the condition of tools and point of re-sharpening.
  • Re-sharpen punches and dies as needed.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with fast-changing priorities.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all company rules and policies.
  • Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
  • Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Assemble items as instructed by shift leader or floor supervisor.
  • Prepare product for shipment as appropriate.
  • Lift raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment, manually up to 60 pounds, or by using a hoist. Physically able to clear jams from the machine.
  • Operate machinery used in the production process, or assist machine operators.
  • Uphold all ISO and OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities above.
  • Be dependable, follow instructions, respond to management direction, take responsibility for own actions, keep commitments, commit to long hours of work when needed to reach goals and complete tasks on time, or notify appropriate person with an alternate plan of action.
  • Ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision while meeting all product quality requirements.

  • A flexible schedule is required; this position requires shift work as well as some weekend work.
  • Candidate must be a strong team player.
  • Candidate must be reliable.
  • Communications proficiency, written and verbal.
  • Problem solving/analysis.
  • Ability to read shop drawings and specifications.
  • Be familiar with material utilization concepts.
  • Dealing with complexity.
