POSITION SUMMARY

Metalworking Solutions is currently seeking a professional, self-directed, and enthusiastic candidate as an inside sales professional. Ideal candidates will be able to provide quick response concerning estimates, orders, production updates, and resolution of customer issues. Position requires solid computer skills and the ability to navigate Microsoft Office Products such as Excel and Word efficiently. The ability to read blueprints/shop drawings is critical to this individual’s success.

The focus of this position is working with and through others, building and maintaining relationships, and working closely and accurately within established guidelines. There is a need for an effective communicator, someone who can stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns. There will be many different people to meet and work with. The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in the business, agenda, and needs of others, including the company, its management, the team, the company’s customers, or all the above. A persuasive, teaching style of communication is required to communicate the company’s policies, programs, and systems. A faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detail work is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently. This portion of the work will often focus on relationships with others; correct handling of details dealing with others is necessary to maintain and grow relationships. Necessary corrections must be made in a constructive, supportive manner. As time is usually a factor, the work must be done on time, as well as correctly. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed closely while working with and for others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate new and repeat sales by providing product and technical information in a timely manner.
  • Accurately determine pricing by interpreting customer prints and utilizing quoting tools (i.e. Excel spreadsheets and shop software).
  • Gather pricing for outsourced material, metal finishing requirements, etc., providing accurate pricing to the customer.
  • Present price, credit, and terms in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Effectively communicate customer/job requirements to the engineering and production team.
  • Obtain accurate information from the operations team relating to lead times and expected shipment dates.
  • Monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and proactively communicate any anticipated delays from the original date to the customer.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to read and use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other gages as situations dictate.  Ability to complete quality documents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Being capable to read blueprints, Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and convert from or to metric dimensions.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

POSITION SUMMARY

Metalworking Solutions is currently seeking a professional, self-directed, and enthusiastic candidate for a Raw Materials and Warehouse Coordinator for the Raw Materials Warehouse. This position is responsible for managing raw material/sheet metal to satisfy manufacturing demands. This includes incoming inspection, inventory management, product identification, warehouse organization and management, material staging, and pulling/issuing of material to point of use locations.

The ideal candidate would have experience in a make to order/customer design fabrication environment.

This position requires very careful adherence to well-defined work where repeatable results are needed. The work is highly precise in nature and requires very strong attention to detail. It is vital for the work output to be very high quality, with correct results, time, and time again. Checking and double-checking is often necessary; individuals performing the job must be patient and conscientious. Both the content and the presentation are important; all work must be highly polished. There is little ambiguity in this job. It is very clear what needs to be done, and what the expected results are. This clarity will come either from the company’s management or from established professional disciplines and processes. The established procedures and processes must be followed very closely; there is little room or necessity to modify them. Much of the work can be accomplished by working at a steady, even pace. There is much consistency and familiarity from one day to the next. It is generally feasible to plan large blocks of work ahead of time. When work duties do change, there is ample foresight and time to prepare. The work is best-accomplished working as an individual, without a great dependence on other people or “politics” for results. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements inventory control procedures and sequence of operations within the department to optimize workflow.
  • Oversees vendor consignment inventory and all sheet metal materials.
  • Oversees customer consignment inventory.
  • Communicates inventory levels and issues to Purchasing.
  • Tracks and provides updates on WIP of customer consignment inventory as well as arrange loads based on open job demands.
  • Delivers raw materials to point of use locations throughout cutting operations as required.
  • Stage material for upcoming jobs in job racks.
  • Unload and put-a-way incoming stock and update inventory system on material deliveries.
  • Manage and track heat treat numbers with full traceability.
  • Receive incoming finished goods from outside processing.
  • Reviews weekly inventory trends and discusses variations with appropriate colleagues.
  • Communicate and escalate issues or imbalances to management.
  • Works with Master Scheduling each week to improve OTD and quality performance of suppliers.
  • Conducts physical inventory count as required.
  • Supports meetings to review service levels, performance against schedule, inventory strategy, and resource implications.
  • Working and displaying Integrity, Teamwork, Reliability, Customer Focus, and Can-Do Attitude through your individual actions and accountability.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be required and participate as & when necessary in Companywide initiatives & projects.
  • Undertake additional training to develop skills as the company requires.

  • Responsible for the quality of production within assigned departments and coordinate with quality auditors as needed to ensure quality levels are maintained. 
  • Responsible for training and supervision of direct and indirect team members assigned to 2nd shift.

Holt comes to Metalworking Solutions from Kenco Management Services where he served from 2008 as Corporate Director of Engineering and prior to that Corporate Manager of Logistics Engineering. From 2005 to 2018 he served in various roles at Array including Director of Process Improvement and Plant Manager. Holt also enjoyed a 23-year career at United Technologies where he led various LEAN and Six Sigma initiatives during his tenure. “We are pleased to welcome Joel to the Metalworking Solutions family,” stated Nick Burrows, President. “We have known and followed Joel in his career for many years. Chattanooga, TN February 8, 2018:  Metalworking Solutions today announced Nick Burrows has been named President, effective immediately. As President, Burrows will have full responsibility for the company and leading the organization into the future.

Burrows, 39, has been with the company since its inception. He implemented the initial systems, processes and organizational policies in support of the company’s vision and has led Metalworking Solutions team in evolving these practices and systems as the business has grown.
